Well it’s a bit of a milestone today. After all the work that has been going on since February the first floor is almost on.
This is so exciting simply because within the next week or so the walls will follow defining the style and shape of the house. Lots of decisions to be made so I will have to be onsite constantly.
The flooring system you are looking at here is called TJI’s or truss joists. They are an engineered system made exclusively custom for every home, depending on the engineering required. Our joists on this level are attached by a series of hangers on the inside of the walls. The reason for this is to allow the grade of the dirt to come up level with the house without a step down. The other reason is also because it makes a much stronger system being fastened inside versus on top. This is NOT your standard home, everything being done here is custom fit for not only the property but also for seismic reasons.
My brother- inlaw dug out the spot for the garage which needs to be drawn up by the architect soon. I thought he was going to stay and get some much needed landscaping done, but he seems to have disappeared.
